The species
About the Burchell's zebra
Our zebra skins come from the Burchell's zebra (Equus quagga burchellii), the southern form of the plains zebra that roams the grasslands and bushveld of South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
You can recognise a Burchell's zebra skin by its broad, bold stripes that run right around the body, and the soft brown "shadow stripes" that appear between the black ones, especially across the hindquarters. That warmth is what makes it so easy to live with: it pairs as naturally with timber and leather as with crisp white interiors.
Like a fingerprint, no two stripe patterns are the same, so every skin we sell is one of a kind.

Yes. We supply the South African export documentation with every skin. Some countries have their own import rules, so tell us where you live and we will confirm what is needed before you buy.
Will it fit in my luggage?
A zebra skin can be folded and rolled to roughly the size of a yoga mat, so it fits comfortably in a suitcase.
How do I look after it?
Shake it out and brush it in the direction of the hair. Blot spills straight away and keep it out of strong, direct sunlight to protect the colours.
